For twenty three years I was a Kibbutz member in the upper Galilee. The hills of Galilee, the Golan Heights, and expanses of fields encompassed me, influenced my paintings and remain a source of inspiration to this day. The life in nature, the observation of details together with the mastery of the paintbrush and the paint, are expressed in my work. One can feel the wild movement and the heat of the day, almost smell the fragrance of the fields and the earth. It is important to me that a painting should convey warmth and should draw the observer into it. I was born in Israel in 1943, and I have been painting for as long as I can remember. I studied art in Haifa, in Tel-Chai, and in Austria, where I specialized in a technique that combines tempera and oils. I bring the subjects of my paintings into my studio with the help of my camera, which accompanies me as I work through the fields and orchards. My paintings are composed of many transparent layers of acrylic paint. The outlines are drawn in white, which radiates inner light and constitutes an important element in every painting. I have developed and mastered this special technique, which allows me to express emotion, mood, and thoughts in my paintings. |
